Who we are

Bloom is a small, specific team — not a department.

Bloom was drawn up over a few weeks of long walks in 2017 and has been running on the side ever since. It is a full practice now, built by the people who have actually done this work — not people who read about it.

Creating a new standard of care.
Creating a new standard of care.
Same people, new structure

Bloom started in 2017 as The Bloom Foundation, a nonprofit. When Lisa and Shannon got pulled into their own growing businesses, it became more of an awareness effort — talks, media, and training, done alongside everything else, never for a fee.

In the last couple of years, the volume of requests from health systems and practices outgrew what a side project could hold, so Bloom is now a for-profit consulting practice with a team of four. If you remember the earlier nonprofit or its logo, this is the same work and the same people — just finally built to keep up with the calls, now that we’re answering them.

Where it started

Lisa’s story

Her own pregnancy, her years as a labor and delivery nurse, and the moms she kept seeing who had nowhere to go — the reasons she built the PMAD Center, and eventually Bloom.

Support we ran for families

Before Bloom became a consulting practice, it ran free live support for moms and families. These sessions have ended. If you need support now, the resources at the bottom of this page are there any time.

  • Virtual perinatal support group — a weekly drop-in for women who had given birth in the past year and were dealing with anxiety, depression, OCD, or other adjustment disorders.
  • NICU Moms — a weekly drop-in for mothers with a baby in the NICU, or who had one there in the past twelve months.
  • Bloom Chat Live — free live sessions for moms and families.

Founder

Lisa is both a survivor and an advocate for improving the standard of care for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She helped develop New Jersey’s first-in-nation universal screening program in 2005, then created and directed the state’s first PMAD center — a program that now sees roughly 340 patients a month with a staff of eighteen. She has taught perinatal mental health to clinicians through Postpartum Support International, PESI, and the NEI Fall Congress, and advises federal, research, and industry bodies working on perinatal access to care.

Shannon Hayes

Shannon Hayes

Co-founder · Managing Director

Shannon runs everything at Bloom that isn’t clinical. She is the first call on every inquiry, program or press, and stays with it to the finish: scoping, discovery, and the operational build of each program, from staffing models and payer mapping to referral pathways, measurement, and launch. Lisa makes every clinical call; Shannon makes sure the program around it gets built and keeps running. She has been part of this work since the center opened, listening to mothers, providers, and administrators describe where the system breaks down. She is also CEO of Vitality Ventures Group, with three decades of experience building small businesses. She and Lisa have been friends since seventh grade; Bloom started on one of their mom walks in 2017.

Stacy Albanir

Stacy Albanir

Compliance & Quality Assurance

Stacy’s background is in clinical research for medications — data analysis, audits, and the discipline of proving a process actually does what it claims to do. At Bloom she is the one who makes sure the rules are being followed: that protocols hold up under review, that outcome data is tracked correctly, and that a program stays defensible as it scales.

Administration & Program Planning

Judy keeps Bloom’s operations and calendar running — administration, scheduling, and the planning behind trainings, events, and everything else that has to happen on time for a program to actually launch.
